Every dish was delicious and some were out of this world. I am not a fan of celery but wondered how they would elevate it. Wow, it was one of the best, most surprising, dishes I've had this year. And they sell the habanero dressing in this mini fridge by the "bottle shop" nook. DAYTRIP is now one of my top faves in the East Bay and we are already planning our next dinner here.

My good friend goes here very often! Probably like once a week so she has always recommended this place but I still never got to try it until recently and she’s was not wrong. I have never been a fan of celery but this place makes a truly delicious celery salad…. I will probably try to make it at home but to be honest… all the dishes we ordered were amazing!! The wine selections were good too… idk I think this place would make me go broke cause they nail every dish.. living close by is dangerous.. but will for sure be coming back for the celery salad again and to try other dishes since they apparently have seasonal new dishes all the time.

It is great to see this neighborhood so much cooler than it was when I was a kid. Daytrip is definitely unique. The food was surprisingly good and inventive. We had the focaccia, honey nut squash, black cod, and brisket. Each dish had a memorable flavor combination that really worked. Not sure why I was surprised but I was. The service felt like my college roommates were trying out for a job but it was earnest and homey. The plates came out a bit higgeldy-piggeldy but we had lovely dinner. There is no bar so don’t look for it.

I love restaurants where you KNOW they took so much time to perfect, experiment, and explore all elements of the dishes. From the flavors, textures, and presentation—Daytrip considers it all. No it’s not cheap, but you’re paying for all of the time and love that went into each distinct dish. I truly enjoyed everything I ate. I will note that if you’re not a fan of salt and fat, you might be deterred. They go big here which personally, I love. Maximalist foods that are memorable and inspiring. I would highly recommend the gem salad. The flavors and textures were SO good. Really filling but still fresh and just so balanced. The hazelnuts and blanched (?) broccoli was such a nice touch. The squid dish was gorgeous! Delicious too. I wish things were chopped a little smaller to make it easier to get the perfect bite. Without knives it was a little hard to fit it all on my fork, but more of a user suggestion. It was a bit salty but man, that sauce was dreamy!!! I’d recommend it, ask for a knife ;) Miso pasta was good, I wouldn’t come back for it only because it was just too heavy and not bright enough for my liking. Awesome if you’re looking for ultimate comfort and indulgence though. Hands down, the BEST thing was the focaccia and house vinegar and oil. Holy HELL! What a delicious and perfect appetizer. I will be running back for that and a glass of natural wine (insane list!) We also shared a tasty shrub non-alcoholic cocktail and it was very tasty. The Sacramento Sherry shots were fun, especially being from there. Had to do it to ‘em. Overall, a really special place. I am excited to come back and try more but definitely order the focaccia and gem salad again. Would be really fun to order a bottle and hang when friends. The interior is beautiful and fun, elevated but not too formal. Service was amazing too, I regret not getting our servers name but they were thoughtful and attentive! Thanks Daytrip 🪩✨🥹💜🫡

I recently embarked on an enchanting day trip to a wine bar in Oakland, and it turned out to be an extraordinary experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the warm and inviting ambiance, accompanied by an impressive selection of wines that would satisfy even the most discerning palate. The wine bar, tucked away in a charming corner of Oakland, exuded an understated elegance. The decor was tastefully minimalistic, with dimmed lighting that created an intimate atmosphere. The cozy seating arrangements were perfectly suited for both solo visits and gatherings with friends. The attentive and knowledgeable staff were true wine enthusiasts, eager to assist and share their expertise, making the entire experience all the more enjoyable. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the extensive wine list. It featured a diverse range of varietals from both local and international vineyards, ensuring there was something to cater to every preference. Whether you're a seasoned oenophile or a curious novice, this wine bar had options to satisfy all tastes. The well-curated selection encompassed everything from crisp whites to full-bodied reds, sparkling wines to delicate rosés, and even rare finds for the adventurous connoisseurs. What truly set this wine bar apart was their commitment to showcasing local wineries and lesser-known vineyards. The staff was passionate about promoting small-scale producers and often offered limited editions and exclusive releases that were a delightful departure from the mainstream. It was a refreshing opportunity to explore unique and exceptional wines that might otherwise go unnoticed. Accompanying the delightful libations, the wine bar also offered a thoughtfully crafted menu of delectable bites. The small plates and charcuterie boards provided the perfect complement to the wines, featuring an array of artisanal cheeses, cured meats, and tantalizing tapas. The flavors harmonized beautifully, enhancing the overall tasting experience and leaving me craving for more. The attention to detail and dedication to quality were evident throughout my visit

Such a let down. We live in the neighborhood and we’re excited to try this place given the hype. It felt like a Snail Bar dupe that was extremely mid and poorly executed. Plates and utensils seemed like they hobbled a bunch of stuff together from a thrift store. Decor and vibe was better from the curb. Service was slow and subpar (and of course there’s an automatic 20% gratuity for it). You’d hope the food would be redeeming but nothing stood out as great despite some interesting pairing of flavors. Portions were smaller than you’d hope for too. The wine was good which was indeed a positive. By halfway through the meal my partner and I decided we’d never be back. Genuinely wish them well but there’s many other places you can spend $150 for a meal in east bay I’d encourage others to explore first.

Some of the most exciting food I’ve had all year - the dishes are inspiring and such an enjoyment to eat. Wine selection is 10/10 and servers are lovely. Will be thinking about this meal for a long time. Couldn’t recommend more!

A truly phenomenal experience! We recently celebrated a friend's birthday with dinner at DAYTRIP and it blew us away. The space is cozy and unassuming, delivering food and service that far exceeded our expectations. The menu is structured to encourage sharing plates and we're so glad we did. Every dish featured an elaborate and unexpected array of totally fun flavors and textures. Group favorites included an exceptional crunchy brussels sprout salad with pomegranate and popped sorghum (like adorable mini popcorn!), a crisp, bright slightly spicy, slightly creamy celery salad, a beautifully prepared brisket, and an absolute show-stopper of a hazelnut chocolate mousse. Our group decided it was easily one of the very best restaurant desserts we've ever had! We also loved picking a bottle of wine from the little "bottle shop" at the front of the restaurant and appreciated the staff's recommendations. The service was also a highlight - our server, Katherine, was warm, friendly, helpful, and down-to-earth. She very thoughtfully guided us around the menu and made sure our birthday girl felt extra celebrated with a candle in her dessert and complimentary sherry to end the meal. DAYTRIP is committed to responsible and equitable management and it shows in the attitude of their staff. Lucky for us it seems the menu changes very often, so we'll look forward to going again and again and again! 11/10 experience all around!
